Sometimes the gate itself is fine – it's the way you open it that's gone wrong. Remotes stop working, receivers fail, keypads get water in them and intercoms lose their picture or sound. I sort all of it.
Remote control problems
- remotes that have stopped working altogether
- poor range – having to be right at the gate before it opens
- one remote works, the others don't
- remotes lost or stolen and needing removing from the system
- old fixed-code remotes that need upgrading
See gate remote not working? for checks you can do yourself.
Receiver problems
The receiver is the part that listens for your remote's signal – either built into the control board or a separate plug-in or external unit. If no remotes work, the receiver may have failed, lost its memory, or have a damaged aerial.
Keypad problems
- keys not responding, often after water gets in
- forgotten codes
- wireless keypads with flat batteries or lost pairing
Intercom problems
- no picture, or a poor picture
- no sound, or a buzzing line
- the gate doesn't open from the handset or app
- the app has stopped connecting
Repair or replace?
Remotes and keypads are usually replaced rather than repaired. Receivers and intercoms can sometimes be repaired; often an upgrade gives you better security and features for not much more. I'll give you the options and a price.

Questions people ask me
Why has my gate remote stopped working?
Most often a flat battery. If a new battery doesn't fix it, the remote may need recoding or the receiver may have a fault.
Can you supply remotes for my old gate?
For most major brands, yes. If they're no longer made, a new receiver lets you use modern remotes.
Can you fix an intercom you didn't install?
Yes, for most common systems.
